Due to a choice by the FIA to award fewer Superlicense issues for O'Ward's Indy Lights Series championship, O'Ward can be unable to attain the specified issues as a way to race Formula One in 2020, and thus would now not be retained by means of Red Bull past 2019. In 2015, O'Ward débuted in the Pro Mazda Championship with Team Pelfrey. Once again in 2016, O'Ward competed within the Pro Mazda Championship with Team Pelfrey. In 2017, O'Ward competed within the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Performance Tech Motorsports in the PC elegance. O'Ward and his co-drivers gained the 2017 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring in the PC elegance, making him the youngest motive force to ever win both races at 17 years outdated. O'Ward and his crew went on to win the 2017 Championship and North American Endurance Cup (NAEC)
