James Badge Dale knew his character, John Dutton Sr., would be killed early in 1923. After his personality dies, he doesn’t know what's going to happen next with the Dutton family, as display writer Taylor Sheridan wouldn’t let him read the remainder of the display’s script.

“I’m going to be incredibly truthful with you. I have no idea, because Taylor advised me, ‘You best get to read the first 3 episodes,'” Dale informed The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the Dutton family. “And pay attention, that’s the way I adore it. I’m gone. I’m useless. Other guys are asking if I find out about this and that. Doesn’t topic. If it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the level. I’m going to force towards this finishing, and I’m going to provide the whole lot to get to this ending, and I’ll see you guys later at the premiere.”

He echoed this identical knowledge to Entertainment Tonight, verifying he doesn’t even know what occurs in episode 4. “They only gave me the first 3 scripts, so now I’m like, ‘Oh, I got to watch it!’ So, I’m excited to see what happens,” he said.
